The second MSC container ship to enter Palumbo Malta Shipyards was the 2006 built 275 metre container ship MSC LORENA. She entered Grand Harbour on Thursday 29th July, 2021 at 1036 hrs and berthed at Parlatorio Wharf assisted by tugs.





On Monday 9th August at 1600 hrs she ordered 2 pilots and 3 tugs to shift from Parlatorio Wharf towards Dock 4 in disabled condition. At 1610 hrs tugs SPINOLA and WENZINA were fast and tug ST. ANGELO was fast at 1618 hrs. At 1634 hrs the boxship was already casted off from the quay and shifting slowly towards Dock 4 of which by 1717 hrs the last tug – ST. ANGELO was ready.



On Thursday 26th August around 1000 hrs she started shifting from Dock 4 to Dock 6 in disabled condition assisted by 3 tugs.



During the first weekend of September preparations were being done in order that the ship will float again and everything in order –

On the morning of Monday 6th September, she was being floated –





And early afternoon she was floated and berthed starboard side alongside.


She left Valletta on Tuesday 7th September, 2021 at 1236 hrs bound to Gebze, Turkey.
