2 tugs that were former SMIT INTERNATIONAL tugs passed Malta heading to their next port of call during Week 38 of 2023.

First to see was the 1990 Japanese built tug TAHITI calling at Bunkering Area 3 East, Malta for uplifting bunkers, calling on Monday 18th September, 2023.

She was built as the KUROBE MARU trading until November 1998 where she was acquired by SMIT INTERNATIONAL and renamed as SMIT TAHITI and since 1st March, 2018 she’s trading with current name as TAHITI.

The second one was the 1986 built COM flag tug NAOMI owned by Greek Interests.  Originally built as the SMIT SPANJE, she was renamed to SMIT SIBERIE trading until 2006.

She was sold to Italian interests and renamed as MISA PRIMO trading until end of August 2022 where she was sold once again and renamed as NAOMI.
