On Saturday 20th January , morning the towage of the 2011 built 120.11 m long (loa) cable laying barge ULISSE towed by the anchor handling tug (aht) EDT AEOLUS passed by within territorial waters of Malta underway to her next port of call – Limassol, Cyprus from Rotterdam, Netherlands.

ULISSE was built in China by Jingjiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. as WINBUILD 1401 with yard no POET 1401. Her Keel was laid on 5th February, 2010 launched 5 months later on 25th July 2010 and completed on 15th August, 2011. In September 2014 she was sold and renamed as CC PACIFIQUE homeported at Willemstad with Curacao Flag (ANT).

During June 2016 she was sold again and renamed ULISSE homeported at Valletta with Malta Flag (MLT). 3 months later she was being converted as a cable layer from a Deck Cargo Barge that served her time for owners Coastal Carriers N.V. and was decommissioned in December 2015.

The conversion was done in Singapore by PaxOcean shipyard.

EDT AEOLUS was acquired by her company EDT Offshore during Q1 of 2022. She was built in Romania by Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries in 2011 as the TRITON COMMANDER until April 2011, AEOLUS until June 2011 and until February 2022 she was trading as FAIRPLAY 33.

Towage will arrive at Limassol, Cyprus tomorrow Saturday 27th January, 2024.
