On Tuesday 17th May, 2022 early morning from around 0500 hrs Valletta VTS decided to close Grand Harbour, Marsamxett & Marsaxlokk Harbour due to heavy fog with no visibility.
This resulted with the grounding of the workboat RUSAND for few minutes with no injuries and very slight damage at Taqtiegha ta Delimara, few metres away from Marsaxlokk Harbour.
Valletta Ferry Services at both Grand Harbour & Marsamxett Harbour was suspended of which at
0741 hrs – TOPCAT 1 stated to Valletta VTS that she’s going to start the service once again from Sliema to Marsamxett & Vice Versa.
0742 hrs – TOPCAT 2 stated to Valletta VTS that she’s going to start the service once again from Valletta to Cospicua (3 cities) & Vice Versa.
0744 hrs – Duty Harbour Pilot stated to Valletta VTS that visibility is currently 1 nautical mile and he’s proceeding to embark the cruise liner AIDABLU.
0750 hrs – Pilot onboard & at 0841 hrs she was secured at Boiler Wharf.
