According to Houthi spokesperson it was claimed that  the group had successfully hit the kamsarmax bulker STAR NASIA owned by Star Bulk and the  general cargo ship MORNING TIDE. In a release, the Houthis referred to STAR NASIA as an American ship, and MORNING TIDE as a British ship.

The attack on MORNING TIDE which is operated by British firm Furadino Shipping, was initially reported as a UAV attack which caused minor damage to the port side of the vessel. UKMTO carries a report of a projectile fired at a ship at 0050 hrs on Tuesday 6th February around 57 nm West of Al Hudaydah, Yemen.

MORNING TIDE was built by Damen Shipyard Hoogezand at Hoogezand, Netherlands in 2006 as the MORGENSTOND I until 2008; then sold and renamed as BELUGA LOCOMOTION until 2009, MORGENSTOND I until 2010, KENT SUNRISE until May 2012, MORGENSTOND I until October 2012, CLIPPER ATHENA until August 2014 and MORGENSTOND I until February 2022 and flying a Barbados Flag (BRB).

She was seen last year within territorial waters (WTW) last September where she tried to load the former Japanese Law Enforcement patrol craft KORYU off Grand Harbour (OGH), Malta.

Due to swell in the area she had to shift to Bunkering Area 6 to load the boat that was deck cargo aboard the 37 m supply ship SEA EXPRESS III which is also a Damen built vessel.

For various reasons we won’t Publish images of the KORYU loaded aboard SEA EXPRESS III taken both from the Air and Sea Level.
