An approved DP1 survey vessel with a proven track record in the North Sea and Arctic is the 1976 built KOMMANDOR STUART owned by Hays Ships, UK .

She was built in Norway at Sterkoder Mekaniske Verksted in Kristiansund as yard no 58 as the Icelandic Ferry HERJOLFUR trading until Sepember 1993.

Then she was acquired by the Swedish Navy and converted to a Multirole Support Ship until 2006 as A 263 HSwMS GALO.

In August 2006 Hays Shipping acquired her for converting to a Survey Ship and renamed her as KOMMANDOR STUART. (Stuart being the name of one of the Directors 2nd Son). She arrived later that month at Albert Dock in Hull under tow assisted by tugs SVEASUND and TRUEMAN for her conversion. During November 2006 she was spotted at Edinburgh Dock, Leith during the conversion of which she’s even homeported at Leith, Scotland flying a British (GBR) flag.

She was seen at Malta in July and August 2009 and last one back to 2016 entering Dock 4 at Palumbo Malta Shipyard Ltd on 18th April.
