The first ship from a Class of 22 known as Project Neva 1607 and 16073 ( The project was developed at the Baltsudoproekt Central Design Bureau ) built for USSR owners and 2 for Jadranska Plovidba, Yugoslavia in Leningrad, USSR was the 1979 built roro ship IVAN SKURIDIN. Built as yard 821 at the A. Zhdanov Shipyard she was built for Sakhalin Shipping Co (SATCO) with an ice strengthened bow door/ramp that could carry 493 cars , 242 TEU’s and she was homeported at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, Soviet Union.
During August 1999 she was renamed KARINA and later on she was sold to the Dutch Shipping Company – VAN UDEN renaming her ALEXANDERHAVEN homeported at Valletta (MLT Flag).
ALEXANDERHAVEN with a 139.63 metres overall length, 19.23 metres beam used to be employed on the Van Uden RoRo service between northern Europe and the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. This service offer a sailing every 14 days from Moerdijk to ports in Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, Malta, Syria, Tunisia and Egypt.
