Metal waste is exported in Malta and from time to time, ships call at Grand Harbour, Malta berthing at Laboratory Wharf South 2 for loading scrap iron bound to Turkey. Another shipment was seen in August 2021 when on Monday 16th August, 2021 the 92 metre long Panama Flag (PAN) SALIX entered Grand Harbour at 0552 hrs.
She was built in Germany by Sietas Schiffswerft at Hamburg in 1986 as the BARGSTEDT trading for 10 years until 1996 where she was sold and renamed VISEU trading for 10 years too until 2006 where she was renamed to her current name though she had a flag change.
She left Valletta on Wednesday 18th August, 2021 at 1703 hrs bound to Nemrut, Turkey.
