Metal waste is exported in Malta and from time to time, ships call at Grand Harbour, Malta berthing at Laboratory Wharf South 2 for loading scrap iron bound to Turkey.
Another shipment was seen – On Friday 11th December, 2020 the 85 metre long coaster MOON was spotted loading scrap iron in her holds. She entered the previous day berthing at Laboratory Wharf and shifted to Lab South 2 after 0700 hrs as seen in the below images.
She was built in 1990 at Detlef Hegemann Rolandwerft at Berne in Germany as the ASSIDUUS until July 1990, LEHSHIP until September 1990 and back to ASSIDUUS until February 2005 where she was renamed to PAPER MOON until July 2020 where she was renamed to her current name – MOON. She’s homeported at Giurgiulesti with Moldova (MOL) flag. She has a 2,292 GRT and 2,717 DWT.
