On Friday 15th August 2014, the 1978 built semi-submersible Pipe Layer CASTORO SEI was photographed from the air by MALTA SHIP PHOTOS around 40 miles offshore Malta heading to Burgas, Bulgaria from Rotterdam, Netherlands.





- She was built in Trieste, Italy by Fincantieri and homeported in Nassau (BHS Flag). She’s 152 metres long with 70.5 metres beam and operating draught of 7.8 to 15.5 metres. She has 2 rotating cranes of 134 tonnes capacity, three 130 tonnes pipe tensioners and a 400 tonnes abandon and recovery winch for pipelaying. Accommodation Capacity is 354 persons.






Originally she was being towed by the 298t bollard pull Anchor Handling Tug (AHT) URANUS together with the 192t bollard pull AHT MAGNUS of which the convoy started on Wednesday 30th July with towing speed of 4.5 knots. During middle August MAGNUS was disconnected and did cargo runs in Trapani and on completion she joined the convoy one again.
