One of the ships that used to operate for Grimaldi Group, Naples, Italy was the 178.09 metres long ro/ro ship FIDES. She used to berth at Dwq 4 using her stern ramp.

She was built in Germany in 1993 by Flender Werft at Lubeck and homeported at Valletta (MLT Flag). She can carry 1,500 cars; 400 TEU’s and ro/ro capacity of 1,000 linear metric tons.

During the late 90’s FIDES brought to Malta the first 3 low floor buses loaded from Tilbury, UK.

On the 2nd December 2014 she was involved in a collision with wooden Italian fishing vessel NIKA in the Adriatic Sea. Provided below is a link from the Marine Safety Investigation Unit of Transport Malta –

Last 20th April, 2019 she was spotted discharging/loading cargo at Savona Port, Italy wearing a blue livery with the colours of Malta Motorways of the Sea (A Ferry Company operating in the Mediterranean between Italy, Spain, Tunisia, Libya and Malta) part of Grimaldi Group.
