On Saturday 17th June, 2023 the 2010 built 225 metre long bulk carrier ELENA VE struck berthed 2013 built bulk carrier KARPATY at Port of Tarragona in Spain around 1230 UTC while proceeding to berth with tugs assistance after a 14-day voyage carrying wheat from Chornomorsk port in Ukraine.
Both ships have been seriously damaged, with the Polish kamsarmax KARPATY portside hull in cargo holds area were affected too
And during early August, 2023 the Polish bulker called at Palumbo Malta Shipyards for repairs.
