On Thursday 8th August 2019 it was announced that the South Korean built container ship CMA CGM VERDI was sold to breakers for an undisclosed price to U.A.E based Simatech Shipping.

She was built in 2004 in South Korea by Samsung Shipbuilding & Heavy Industries at Geoje with 277 m as length; 40 m beam and maximum draught of 14.5m. Her container capacity is 5,782 TEU (Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit).

During November 2011 CMA CGM SA, the world’s third largest container line, stated that it’s selling two panamax vessels, the CMA CGM WAGNER and the CMA CGM VERDI. CMA CGM declined to say whether it had reached agreement on or finalised a sale. Both vessels, built in 2004, were sold for $45 million to undisclosed Greek interests, Clarkson Research Services Ltd., a unit of the world’s biggest shipbroker, reported November 19th. In fact CMA CGM VERDI is managed by Technomar Shipping Inc and the CMA CGM WAGNER was broken up at Gadani Beach since February 2017.

On 15th September 2014 she was a News Headlines – More than 400 people were feared dead in a tragedy at sea off Malta. Three Palestinian Nationals that claimed that left Egypt from 11 migrants pulled out alive from an area some 300 miles off Malta were airlifted to Malta and transferred to the Mater Dei Hospital. Two bodies, including a young girl, arrived at Malta Freeport onboard the boxship CMA CGM VERDI in the afternoon of 16th November.
