On Thursday 24th August the 20 year old lady ECOSTAR homeported at Gibraltar (GIB) entered Grand Harbour, Malta at 0714 hrs coming from Greece.
Her purpose of call was to collect around 4,000 tons of Waste Oil from Falzon Bunkering at the Tank Cleaning Farm (TCF) Facilities at Ricasoli, Malta.
She was built in Turkey by Gelibolu Shipyard at Gelibolu as the AKSOY SAROS but was renamed as NORVIK trading until January, 2008 where she was renamed as MARINUS homeported at Laeso, Denmark. During 2021 she was acquired by the current Greek Company and renamed her as ECOSTAR.
Waste oil is defined as any petroleum based or synthetic oil that, through contamination, has become unsuitable for its original purpose due to the presence of impurities or loss of original properties.
She left Valletta on Saturday 26th August bound to Algeciras, Spain.
