One of the Bitumen Tankers that used to call at Grand Harbour, Malta was the 1969 built lady ASFALTAR.





She was built in Germany by Werft Nobiskrug GmbH at Rendsburg as yard no 655 with Ice Strengthened bow as the TARJO trading until 1972; PELLWORM for few months and as ASFALTIERA with the Italian Company – Meridonionale di Cabotaggio Srl homeported at Cagliari with black hull trading for 28 years where in May 2000 she was acquired by the Greek Company – ENEA that still exists and renamed as ASFALTAR homeported at Piraeus with Greek Flag (GRC.

She was last seen in Malta in 2008 and she was broken up at Aliaga, Turkey in December 2011.
