TASMANIA is an island state of Australia and it is located 240 km to the south of the mainland separated by Bass Strait. The state encompasses the main island of Tasmania, the 26th largest world island and the surrounding 334 islands.

Below are some movements around Tasmania covered by a great friend for the month of April 2019 –

On Friday 5th April the 2018 built HKG flag bulker DARYA SATI  was seen anchored off Bell Bay waiting for the PYTHAGAROS behind her at the Bell bay no 3 berth to sail. IMO : 9752424; 200 m; 36,272 GRT.

Also seen was the 2010 built IOM flag bulker EMILIE BULKER berthed at Bell Bay no 1 berth in Bell bay just arriving with a cargo of alumina. IMO : 9491477; 180 m ; 20,809 GRT.

On Sunday 14th April the 2007 built HKG flag oil products tanker CSC PROGRESS was seen berthed at Selfs Point discharging petroleum products.  On her final port of call on her Tasmanian visit where she also visited Burnie and Devonport on Tasmania’s north west coast she had a engine failure upon departure from Devonport resulting in berthing to the Cement berth which had no fire fighting facilities. This delayed the arrival of the Cement Carrier GOLIATH.  There have been reports that after several days the ship was ordered by authorities to leave the port, we are unsure which ones but we have heard reports that the ship being a Chinese flagged, crewed and managed stuck in Devonport posed a major security risk and that the army were on standby to board the ship and take her to sea.  She limped to her next port of call being Port Botany where she loaded fuel for delivery to Adelaide in South Australia and has now left Australian waters destined for Singapore. IMO: 9344136; 185 m; 29,593 GRT.

Also there was the 2009 built PAN flag bulker PAN EDELWEISS was seen berthed at Macquarie Wharf no 4 in Hobart loading logs or as Tasports reports Product 2 in a effort to hide the fact that a ship is in port loading logs from Environmental protesters. IMO: 9449508; 180 m; 20,763 GRT.
