The 1996 built Comoros (COM) flag tugboat BALABAN was spotted again in our territorial waters, this time towing the 91.44 metres flat top barge UR 6 from offshore Tripoli, Libya.

UR 6 was built in 1997 in Russia originally VIKING BARGE 6 and her dimensions are – 91.44 m long with 27.43 m beam and 6.09 as depth with 2,508 square metres of deck area. Originally she was towed to Libya last 16th May, 2019 from Ijmuiden, Netherlands by Sea Contractors tug SEA JULIETT to assist in the salvage of the 136 metre container ship ATLANTIC PEACH that grounded on Wednesday 2nd January, 2019.

BALABAN was built in 1996 at Jaya Shipbuilding & Engineering at Singapore as JAYA VALIANT until 1997. Renamed SARAH CORINNA until 2001 and LAMNALCO HARRIER trading until 1st March 2017.

She handed over the barge UR 6 to local tugs LIENI and SEA SALVOR who entered Valletta, towing her to MMH Facilities.
