On Wednesday 19th April, 2023 the 1999 built general cargo ship BREB XIAN was towed to Malta for gearbox repairs at Palumbo Malta Shipyards by the 1992 built tug PAUL.

BREB XIAN was coming from Trapani where she discharged her cargo spending 10 days inside port after originally she was underway to Trapani from Ravenna when the disabled problem occurred.

BREB XIAN was built in China by Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding at Rui Chang in 1999 as the MPP/feeder container vessel OPDR SEVILLA trading until April, 2008 where she was sold to German Interests and renamed BERUM for 10 years, sold and renamed as VALENTINA trading until 2021.

At 1304 hrs duty pilot embarked BREB XIAN while 3 tugs were underway to assist her.

At 1326 hrs the Italian tug PAUL (which is a familiar tug in the Maltese Waters) casted off after the towline was handed over to tug SEA SALVOR and started her approach to Valletta.

Assisted by 3 tugs – PAWLINA, SEA SALVOR and ST.ELMO she passed breakwaters at 1342 hrs bound to Palumbo Malta Shipyards.

She was secured at Bormla Wharf, Palumbo Malta Shipyards at French Creek.

BREB XIAN is represented in Malta by Medsea Shipping Agency – http://www.medsea.com.mt which they are our SPONSORS too for a lifetime.
