One of the most interesting towages we have seen in Malta was no doubt the towage of double hull tanker STOLT SNELAND as Hull 150 towed by the 34 metre tug FAIRPLAY 28. In fact on Wednesday 20th February 2008 the towage entered Grand Harbour, Malta.

The convoy was berthed at DWQ 4 part of Valletta Gateway Terminals Ltd.

Towage was coming from Okean Shipbuilding Yard at Mykolayiv (Nikolaev), Ukraine and STOLT SNELAND as Hull 150 was bow to stern welded together. Nowadays she’s 182.72 metres long with 32.24 metres wide and maximum draught of 15.60 metres. Her Keel was laid on 15th December, 2006, launched on 13th June 2008 and completion date was 30th September 2008.

FAIRPLAY 28 was built in Spain by Astilleros Armon at Navia in 2006 as ZEUS for a Slovenian Towage Company trading until August 2007 where she was renamed FAIRPLAY 28 (She was renamed ZEUS again in August 2008).

After minor repairs were done towage left Grand Harbour, Malta bound to Aker Yards Floro AS in Norway for completion on Sunday 24th February, 2008
