A year after she was spotted the first time approaching Grand Harbour (Towing VON PERLE on 20.01.2019) the 1978 built tugboat HOROZ was seen towing the 72.96 m long floating sheerlegs SCHIEDAM on Monday 20th January, 2020.
SCHIEDAM was built in 1971 in Germany by HDW Kiel originally Bugsier ROLAND. She’s 72.96 m long with 24.00 m beam and 4.68 m as depth with lifting capacity of 500 tons. She has an accommodation of 9 crew.
Her company Koole Mammoet Salvage was awarded in May 2019 for the wreck removal of the 136 metre container ship ATLANTIC PEACH that grounded on Wednesday 2nd January, 2019 off Tripoli, Libya.
HOROZ was built in 1978 by Union Naval Barcelona at Barcelona, Spain as JOAQUIN until 1988. Renamed POMPEU FABRA until June 2012.
After the towage she handed over the sheerlegs SCHIEDAM to local tugs SEA SALVOR and ST. ANGELO towing her to MMH Facilities.
SCHIEDAM was berthed starboard side alongside barge UR 6 at MMH Facilities and left Valletta towed by HOROZ once again on Friday 13th March, 2020 afternoon bound to Barcelona, Spain arriving on Saturday 21st March, 2020.
