Vernicos Scafi Tugs and Salvage Maritime Co, the Greek company also owned by the Italian Scafi group active in towage & salvage in Greece, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Red Sea, has announced the purchase of the tugboat GARIBALDO.

GARIBALDO was built in China by Guangdong Hope Yue Shipbuilding Industry at Guangzhou in 2005. She has 80 tons of bollard pull, with great manoeuvrability making her capable to both Harbour & Ocean Towage. She holds Fire Fighting Class 1 and has a 205 m3 Oil Recovery capacity and is outfitted with S.S. coils for heavy fuel and built-in oil recovery pumps

She was seen in Malta a year after she was delivered in 2006 involved in towing Blue Fin Tuna (BFT) cages. The current fleet of the company after the joint venture of Karapiperis’ tugs and the acquisition of GARIBALDO is in total of 52 tugs. GARIBALDO is expected to be delivered in Venice, Italy in the first days of January 2022.
