One of the Spanish built tugs trading in the German Towage Industry is the 1997 built tug FAIRPLAY 21 which has identical sisters – FAIRPLAY 22, 23 and 24.
She was built by Naveles Santodomingo to a design from Aarts Marine BV for the German Towage Company – Fairplay Towage of which invested 19million in this and her sister ships.
She was first seen in Malta back to January 1999 sheltering from rough weather while towing the 1974 German 76 metre built semi submersible barge AMT WAYFARER loaded with the 1978 German built 58 metre jack up barge WIJSLIFT 6.
Interesting that both AMT WAYFARER and WIJSLIFT 6 were built in Germany by the same yard – HDW Kiel at Kiel and at the time of writing they are still trading
Though 26 years old, FAIRPLAY 21 is still operating as Harbour Tug in the Netherlands.
