On Thursday 13th January, 2022 Virtu Ferries announced it has purchased a new High Speed Craft at a cost of €7 million, for use on the Malta-Gozo route.
The High Speed Craft (HSC) GOZO EXPRESS was designed by the Incat Crowther company of Australia. She is 42.2 m long and can carry 322 passengers in airconditioned lounges on 2 decks with outside seating for 40 passengers in the upper deck.
She’s powered by four MTU 12V2000 M72 engines and 4 x Rolls Royce Water Jets with a maximum speed of 39 knots and a cruising speed of 35 knots. Sea trials were conducted successfully last December and she’s expected to be delivered by middle March 2022
GOZO EXPRESS will replace the Surface Effect Ship (SES) SAN PAWL who will be redeployed on the company’s route Venice to Croatia, operating under the name Venezia Lines.
