Two years after the largest catamaran operating in the Mediterranean and the second largest in the world SAINT JOHN PAUL II entered Mgarr Harbour, Gozo last Monday 2nd March, 2020 it was the turn for the Austal built 68.4 metres long High Speed Craft MARIA DOLORES to enter Mgarr Harbour, preparations for the Pope Francis Apostolic Visit to the Maltese Islands on Tuesday 22nd March, 2022.

After doing simulation drills at Grand Harbour mainly at Pinto 5 Wharf she left breakwaters at 0944 hrs.

At 1041 hrs she stopped off Mgarr Harbour awaiting the ropax MALITA to leave for a safe passage.

At 1048 hrs she entered Mgarr Harbour berthing at Quay 4 where a ramp was being constructed in order for security vehicles assigned to the Pope Visit disembark.

At 1408 hrs she left Mgarr Harbour returning back to Grand Harbour with ETA as 1455 hrs.
