Scrapping of ships is not too common in Italy, and secondly ships idling especially here at Porto Di Augusta like this one were involved in some irregularities and subsequently detained, due to unpaid port dues or involvement in an illegal act (e.g. smuggling).
Various ships are idling at the inner part of the harbour further down the Golden Bay including WWII ships.
One of the interesting ships is the 1958 Polish built EFI built by Stocznia Szczecinska now New Szczecin Shipyard at Szczecin with yard number B32/35 launched as SENA for Egyptian Navigation but rejected and became TCZEW for Polish Steamship Co trading until 1976.
Ice strengthened with 94.80 m length overall (loa) , 13.54 m beam and maximum draught of 5.5o m she had 1 riveted/welded deck with 4 holds and 8 derricks.
Then she was sold to Nissos Megisti Cia. Nav. S.A and during February 1984 she was abandoned after she was seized by the Italian Authorities and with PZM funnel colours showing.
