The operation was set up under the name Yachtcare in the early 1990s. What started as a relatively small operation providing services to yachts berthed in the then newly opened Portomaso Marina, quickly flourished under the leadership of its founders, David and Kenneth Azzopardi, who are both experienced boating and yachting enthusiasts.
As the range of services provided quickly grew to the vast range of premium services that it offers today, the company started to acquire customers beyond Portomaso Marina.
In 2006, the company embarked upon a rebranding exercise and changed its name to Boatcare Trading Ltd. During October 2013, thanks to its unique setup and attentive management of Boatcare Trading Limited, Portomaso Marina was awarded the highest TYHA 5 gold anchor rating, establishing Portomaso Marina as the first and only Maltese Marina to be granted this award.
