On Wednesday 2nd March, 2022 the German Government seized the 4th longest yacht in the world – DILBAR as part of a series of sanctions on Russian oligarchs during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine owned by Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov. DILBAR is named after Usmanov’s mother.

Below is the first DILBAR launched in 2005 as a 66 metre Oceanco Built entering Grand Harbour, Malta back to 18th May, 2007.

And again back to 27th April 2014 with a Eurocopter EC155 Dauphin serial as 3A-MBD helicopter embarked

After taking delivery of the 110 metre DILBAR , Usmanov moved on to a bigger project and eventually built the third DILBAR at Lurssen by 2016. She was launched by the German shipyard Lurssen on 14th November 2015 and delivered in 2016. She was built as Project Omar and a close sistership to yacht PELORUS.

When DILBAR was seized she was drydocked and undergoing refit at Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg since October 2021.

Meanwhile the crewing company terminated the work for the 96 yacht crew stating that “normal operation of the yacht has ceased” and that the firm is unable to further pay salaries to its employees on the yacht.
