PERINI NAVI was declared bankrupt by the Court of Lucca, Italy on 29th January 2021. Through the NewCo, Ferretti Group  and Sanlorenzo have expressed their goals of putting forward a bid that details the acquisition of Perini Navi’s Italian brands, assets and all operations, as well as through a preliminary business branch lease. This way, the collaboration of these two big names in yachting aims to foster a smooth transition to recovery and maintain current employee levels.

A collaboration such as this between rival brands is unprecedented. If the future of the bankrupt brand is to be decided by auction, its heritage and locations makes it an enticing investment opportunity. By joining forces, Sanlorenzo and Ferretti Group avoid bidding against each other. Sanlorenzo has declared interest in the Perini Navi sailboat division and headquarters in Viareggio, whereas Ferretti Group has its eyes on the facility in La Spezia.

The 56 metre , 2003 launched Perini Navi built BURRASCA moored at Grand Harbour Marina, Malta back to the 20th August, 2004.

Perini Navi’s largest project to date was the 88m MALTESE FALCON for repetitive client Tom Perkins – Thomas James Perkins (January 7, 1932 – June 7, 2016) was an American businessman, capitalist and was one of the founders of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins. In July 2006, he formally launched his sailing yacht MALTESE FALCON who at the time she was the world’s largest privately owned sailing yacht. The yacht was listed for sale in 2006 on Yachtworld.com, the asking price being €99,000,000 with engine hours listed at 1,890 hours. Yacht was sold for £60 million in July 2009.
