One of the former Government vessels converted into a yacht is the 1974 built SOLEA.
She was built in 1974 with yard number 162 at the Sieghold shipyard, Bremerhaven in Germany for the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry.
The delivery was on May 29th , 1974 for which the Federal Republic of Germany did not yet have a research ship. Before the SOLEA was commissioned , research trips in this area were mainly carried out with the help of chartered commercial fishing boats .
After the decommissioning in June 2004, the ship was sold and converted into a motor yacht within 14 months at the Peterswerft in Wewelsfleth, Germany with the same name as SOLEA and homeported at Kingstown with St. Vincent and the Grenadines flag (VCT).
With 35.40 metre long (loa), 9 metres beam and maximum draught of 3.60 metres she has a crew of 7 with 12 passengers capacity in six cabins.
She was spotted at Malta back to 2006; 2010 and 2012.
During her stay at Malta she was berthed and moored at Grand Harbour Marina which they are our SPONSORS too for a lifetime
