On Tuesday 5th July the 55 metre superyacht GENE MACHINE and her 55 metre support yacht GENE CHASER entered within territorial waters coming from Ibiza, Spain bound to Grand Harbour Marina mooring stern to St. Angelo Wharf.

First one to enter was GENE CHASER at 1107 hrs. Originally built as BLUE OCEAN in 2020 by Damen, the YS 5009 Damen Yachting Support Vessel underwent a major refit into a dedicated scientific yacht according to her owner the scientist Dr. Jonathan Rothberg specific customisations, which required the interior to be converted into a working research laboratory for scientific projects. The main saloon was transformed into a working wet and dry laboratory while other interior areas will be used for conferences and educational purposes.

Then at 1126 hrs the GENE MACHINE entered. She was built in 2013 by Amels as the Amels 180 model powered by 2 MTU 16V 2000 M70 diesel engines with a cruising speed of 13 knots and maximum speed of 15.5 knots.

Both yachts left for Gocek, Turkey today Thursday 7th July with nearly 48 hour stay
