After over 24 years under the same ownership, the 66.7 metre expedition support yacht GOLDEN SHADOW that was listed for sale in Monaco has been sold

GOLDEN SHADOW  was built in steel and aluminium by Campbell Shipyards at San Diego in the United States in 1994 and delivered in 1995 as the first purpose designed support vessel with her most recent refit in 2017 at Palumbo Malta Superyacht Facilities at Valletta. With length overall of 66.75 m and beam of 11.8 m she had a gross tonnage of 1,293 ts with a mono hull, 4 decks of accommodation for up to 20 guests in 11 cabins comprising two doubles, two singles and seven twin cabins. All cabins have en suite shower facilities while the crew quarters sleep 20 staff.

Her machinery was of 2 diesel Deutz AG engines with 1,980 KW and 2,655 HP each offering maximum speed of 16.5 knots and a range of over 6,5000 nautical miles. She carries toys including a seaplane called the GOLDEN EYE which was seen in Malta during November 2004.

She used to be owned by Prince Khaled bin Sultan, son of the late Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, who is best known in the yachting industry as the owner of the Golden Fleet. In fact she was the support yacht for the flagship , GOLDEN ODYSSEY an 80 m superyacht built in Germany by Blohm & Voss in 1990. Boasting 11 guest cabins, she carries a crew of 29 and is powered by twin Deutz engines giving the yacht a maximum speed of 18 knots. With an exterior by Platou Architects and an interior by Albert Pinto, GOLDEN ODYSSEY has a 1,864 GRT. Amongst her key amenities is a large spa pool with a see through glass that leads to an aquarium. With the delivery of the fleet’s newest flagship, GOLDEN ODYSSEY she was renamed to GOLDEN ODYSSEY II and listed for sale, asking €39,950,000.
